Jackson had failed a medical check: Bournemouth brings Semenyo from Bristol City

Fear of vulnerability to injury

AFC Bournemouth have been looking for a centre-forward for some time and had already identified Villarreal’s Nicolas Jackson as a target. The 21-year-old was already in England for a medical check and was supposed to come to the “Cherries” for a transfer fee of around 24 million euros. There, however, he revealed an increased susceptibility to injury, which is why the Premier League club refrained from a commitment – and now introduced Antonie Semenyo.

On Friday night, Bournemouth confirmed the transfer of the 23-year-old, who comes from Bristol City and is a fair bit cheaper at around €10.2m. The London native, who is playing for Ghana national team, scored eight goals and 12 assists in last year’s Championship. In the current season there are eight goals and two assists in 27 appearances.
