RRome, May 5th (askanews) – The bestseller by Felicia Kingsleyone of the most read and loved authors in Italy, comes back to life in a film. From May 8th it arrives worldwide on Prime Video It is not a country for singlesromantic comedy directed by Laura Chiossone.
The story is set in Tuscany, in the idyllic Belvedere in Chianti, where not being in a couple is almost a scandal. Elisa, however, here played by Matilde Gioliis the “anomaly”: a single mother, intent on managing, with passion, an estate, with her sister and mother. Michele’s return to town, Cristiano Caccamohis childhood friend, with interests in the estate, will however question everything, perspectives and feelings.
About how much social pressure there is still a need to be in a couple in reality, Matilde Gioli says: «In some social contexts I am asked judgmental and pressing questions about the fact that I’m not yet married and don’t have children, in other contexts no one cares, I don’t know why but in some contexts there is still a lot of pressure while in others there is a more open mentality.”
It is not an easy task to start from a novel so loved by readers, the director: «I am very confident that they will love the characters of Elisa and Michele, we have respected their essence, we have given them light».
