‘It’s getting worn out’

Things are not going well for Expedition Robinson. The current ‘all stars’ season has historically low viewing figures. What is going on? “It’s just not exciting to watch at all anymore.”

Expedition Robinson is normally one of the most watched programs on RTL 4, but the current season is struggling to score a spot in the top 15 viewing figures at all. Yesterday, the reality show did not go further than fourteenth place with only 749 thousand viewers (14 % market share).

jaded

What is going on? Telegraaf star Wilson Boldewijn say: “Expedition Robinson is getting a little jaded, isn’t it? The viewership is going down a little bit. It was really undisputed for years, but now you are gradually noticing… Of course at some point you also have to start looking in categories of people that not everyone knows.”

His colleague Jordi Versteegden, media reporter at the newspaper: “They broadcast this season only a few weeks after the previous season ended. It then lasts a very long time such a season. I understand very well that people are like: not for a while!”

Dull

It’s just getting a bit boring, Jordi said. “It is also the second time that former candidates are participating in the season and we know that those candidates are looking forward to it and that they know what to expect on such an island. It’s just not exciting to watch anymore.”

The afterthought Island Talk was taken off the tube by RTL 4 yesterday. That’s why Jinek started extra early, right after Expedition Robinson. The result? Jinek falls out of the top 25 viewership with 507 thousand viewers (12%).

The Evening Show with Arjen Lubach (1.3 million) was the most watched talk show of the evening, followed by Op1 (913 thousand), Today Inside (841 thousand), Khalid & Sophie (674 thousand), Jinek (507 thousand) and HLF8. (323 thousand).

Floor on one

Floortje Dessing was the winner on prime time. Her program Floortje To The End Of The World scored 1.7 million viewers (32%), after which Dit Was Het Nieuws was left with 1.2 million (16%).

SBS 6 takes silver thanks to Frank Visser (963 thousand and 18%) and Today Inside, the bronze is for RTL 4’s Expedition Robinson, followed by Keuringsdienst van Waarde with 647 thousand viewers (12%) on NPO 3.

Viewing figures
