In the summer of the third World Apocalypse, there is a baby Italy that will play a European Championship and will also do so as the favorite. And these days… While waiting for the U19s, who will be playing in Wales at the beginning of July, it’s up to the U17s to wear the blue shirt in Estonia. We start with a bang: Italy-France, a match that has very little that is banal even if we are talking about youth national teams. The appointment is Tuesday 26 May at 1.30pm, then Montenegro (29 May, 1.30pm) and Denmark (1 June, 1.30pm). No mistakes allowed: the first two fly to the semi-finals, third and fourth go home. The final on June 7th. In the other group, watch out for Spain, with England and especially Portugal absent, the reigning champions who beat us in the semi-final on penalties a year ago. Twenty players have been called up by coach Daniele Franceschini, all born in 2009 except Dattilo from Roma and Croci from Fiorentina, both born in 2010 and therefore under age like Camarda two years ago. The most represented teams are Inter and Empoli with three players, followed by Juventus, Roma, Parma and Atalanta with two. Only one plays abroad, namely Okon-Engstler from Bruges. Here’s who they are, how they play and their stories.
