Italo Galbiati, Fabio Capello’s historic deputy, has died

After his career as a player for 18 years he was part of the technical staff of Milan where the partnership with Don Fabio began, which he then followed to Rome, Real and Juve. He was also his deputy in the two experiences as coach with England and Russia

Italo Galbiati, former mezzala of Inter, Lecco and Como, has died at the age of 85. He was Fabio Capello’s historic assistant coach on the bench of Milan, Rome, Juventus and Real Madrid. One of his former players, Daniele Massaro, gave the news: “Have a good trip, great Italo, thank you for your patience every day and your great teachings”.

The carreer

Galbiati played for Inter before wearing the Lecco shirt for his debut in Serie A. He remained in Lecco even after the relegation, then moved to Como until the end of his career. He was manager in the youth sector of Inter, coached Milan in three periods to replace Gigi Radice and Ilario Castagner. A partnership was created with Fabio Capello which led him to be second to him also on the benches of England and Russia.
