Fabio Giannantonio has taken the pole of MotoGP of Italian GP, by beating all his rivals in the last seconds of the classification, and setting a time of 1’46.156. The Italian rider has been the fastest (he has taken the second pole of his race, the first was in Moto2 in Misano in 2019) and will start from the first place while his pursuers, Marco Bezzecchi and Luca Mariniwill start from the second and third position respectively.

The start of the fight for pole has been marked by a red flag. Marc Márquez crashed at turn 2 shortly after the session started. The rider was ‘spit out’ from his Honda and, after seeing the flames coming from his bike, he headed to the pit lane with the aim of getting back out on the track.

The Honda of the eight-time world champion caught fire and it was the track marshals who put out the flame. In addition, cleaning work was carried out on the track to be able to resume classification, which, after a few minutes, was resumed. With five minutes to go, Marc came back out on the track but, despite his efforts, he finished outside the top 10. He will start from twelfth position.

The top five was completed by Johann Zarco and ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia (fourth and fifth).
