SIR SUSA VIM PERUGIA-VALSA GROUP MODENA 3-0 (25-20, 27-25, 25-22)

Perugia will also be there, together with Trento, Civitanova and Verona, in the Final Four of the Italian Cup on 25 and 26 January in Bologna. Sir (who will face the Scaligeri) overcame Modena in three sets, achieving victory number 21 in as many matches played this season (after 14 in the championship, 2 in the Super Cup and 4 in the Champions League). In front of the four thousand of the PalaBarton and an incessant and engaging support, Sir Perugia initially lined up with Giannelli as director, Ben Tara as opposite, Loser and Solè in the middle, Ishikawa and Plotnytskyi as spikers and Colaci as libero. On the other side, coach Alberto Giuliani presented the former De Cecco as director, Buchegger as opposite, Mati and Sanguinetti as central defenders, Davyskiba and Gutierrez as spikers, Federici as libero. Sir suffered in the first part of the match, with Modena taking the lead at 3-6 and then at 9-12 (magnificent ace from Gutierrez), and then finding themselves in a situation of balance at 13-13 and Modena again ahead at 13-16. We went point by point until 20-20 and then the great driver of a five-point break was Ishikawa (8 points with an ace and a block in the set), who also landed the set ball ( 25-20).

strength to react

In the second half Modena’s start was even more devastating, reaching 9-14. Decisive, together with a superlative Colaci, was the entry into the serve (in place of Ishikawa) of Semeniuk, who brought Perugia to a draw at 14-14. Giuliani’s team found the strength to react and took a lead of 17-20, only to come back at 22-22. In the final there was Buchegger’s ace (23-24), but then the end of the set was Gutierrez’s serving error (26-25) and Ben Tara’s magnificent block (Mvp) on Davyskiba (27-25). The script was different in the third set, with Lorenzetti’s team immediately pressing on the accelerator, leading 9-2. Perugia tried to manage this margin, even if the guests with the additions of Massari, Anzani and Rinaldi got closer point after point up to 23-22. It was Plotnyskyi (24-22) who chased away the ghosts and then an attack by Loser closed the game at 25-22.

Perugia: Ben Tara and Plotnytskyi 11 points, Loser and Ishikawa 10; team blocks 9 (3 Ben Tara, 2 Plotnyskyi and Solè); ace team 5 (2 Plotnyskyi, 1 Ishikawa, Loser and Giannelli).

Modena: Buchegger 13 points, Davyskiba 10; team blocks 4 (3 Sanguinetti, 1 Buchegger); ace team 8 (3 Davyskiba, 2 Sanguinetti).
