Six years ago I exchanged my student room in Groningen for an even smaller place in Istanbul. The plan was to stay for 6 months for an internship at the consulate. It is now 6 years later and I still enjoy living in Istanbul. The diplomatic world was not for me; as a journalist I feel more at home here.
