An Israeli fashion chain has started a campaign against hunger in the Gaza Strip. Under the motto “Resistance to Hunger” in English, Arabic and Hebrew, black -dressed Israeli cooks and a cook were seen against a black background on social media, who held empty pots in their hands. It is the first protest of this kind by an Israeli company.
The fashion chain comme Il Faut, known in Israel, wrote on her website: “In a short trip removal from us, people are hungry.” The urgent need was “in the name of all those who cannot scream”. It also said: “We are calling to stop starving in Gaza – which also includes the hostages.”
Fashion as a political statement
The head of the chain, Romi Kaminer Goldfainer, told the “Jerusalem Post”: “We do clothes for women and we believe that fashion is also a political cause – like eating, like everything in culture.” There was encouragement on Instagram, but also a lot of sharp criticism of the initiative. “The only ones who are hungry in Gaza are our hostages,” said several reactions.
Debate about famine report
