Isa Hoes quite ugly about Patty Brard: ‘Just amateurish’

Isa Hoes does not understand that Patty Brard is so proud of the drama series about her life. She watched it and thought it all seemed very ‘amateurish’, according to the actress.

The drama series about Patty Brard has received quite bad reviews from national newspapers. De Volkskrant in particular has completely destroyed the production and the TV diva is angry about that. What does Isa Hoes think? “I’m a bit ambivalent about it,” she says podcast with Marc-Marie Huijbregts.

Less money

Isa agrees with the prevailing opinion that the images of the earlier Patty look beautiful, but the images of the later Patty are very cheap seems a bit TV Canteen-like. “I enjoyed seeing Patty’s youth and it is played fantastically by Holly Mae Brood. She is kind of like Patty,” says the actress.

She continues: “I also think it’s a shame that she couldn’t play the old Patty, because you feel everything: this is her. It is so clever what she has done. I found the new part difficult, so if they go to now. It’s like the money ran out; I think I read that somewhere. That you think: much less time, effort and money has been put into it.”

Amateurish

It seems as if that part just didn’t work out, says Isa. “No idea. It also looks different, in my words almost amateurish and not worthy of Will Koopman. It is difficult that Eva van de Wijdeven plays her with a fat suit and her face is completely fat, but of course she has very thin arms and legs. I find that difficult about that series.”

Co-host Marc-Marie is particularly annoyed by the fact that the series continuously jumps in time. “There is no time to just act out a scene or be in the moment.”

Way too boring

Marc-Marie also expected something funnier. “I actually think it’s a bit too boring for Patty.”

Isa: “It’s too good.”

Marc-Marie: “Yes, it’s so cool. It could be a bit funnier. It’s nice and calm. I wish her a better series. I actually like her a lot. She is a brave woman.”
