Mikko Lehtonen has given convincing performances in the national team jersey in prestigious tournaments. It is not impossible to see him at the Olympics. Finland is playing in Tampere in front of the home crowd this week in the Euro Hockey Tour. Many Leijoni players usually give performances at EHT with the World Cup in mind, but the team for the next big prestigious tournament, i.e. the Olympics, is already selected at the beginning of the year. The assumption, of course, is that the Lions’ Olympic team consists entirely, or at least almost entirely, of NHL players. The defender representing Switzerland’s ZSC Lions, the lion captain of the last World Cup, Mikko Lehtonen, may, however, have realistic connections to the Olympic team from outside the NHL.
