The popular Model 3 is being comprehensively revised by Tesla. The online manual, which has already been updated, gives rise to interesting speculation in this context.
• Tesla will soon bring revised Model 3 onto the market
• Online manual contains interesting detail
• Is Tesla planning an even more powerful performance version or even a Model 3 Plaid?
E-car pioneer Tesla is equipping its Model 3 with numerous updates. At the IAA Mobility in Munich it became clear that the refreshed electric car – also called the Model 3 Highland – is visually significantly slimmer and therefore sportier. Since it is scheduled to be delivered to customers from October, the from Elon Musk The controlled company has already updated the online manual for the Model 3, and an interesting detail can be found here.
Rims in focus
According to current information, the Model 3 Highland will only be available in two versions: a basic model with rear-wheel drive and a smaller battery (RWD) or an all-wheel drive performance model with a larger battery (LR AWD). For the European market, where there were previously two versions in between, this means a halving. Some time ago there were even rumors about up to five possible versions.
But there may be more of the Model 3 Highland than the two versions known so far. As “Teslamag” reports, both variants of the new Model 3 are equipped with 18-inch wheels as standard and the new Photon rims or, for an additional charge, with 19-inch Nova rims. But in the updated manual, the larger format, 20 inches, is also mentioned and behind it is “long range” in brackets. This is an indication that Tesla may also be planning an LR version.
Model 3 plaid planned?
The manual also states that the tires for these 20-inch rear rims are 275/30R20. This means that these tires would be even wider than the previous performance version. Wider tires, in turn, could mean more power is put on the road – meaning an additional version of the Model 3 could be even faster.
Tesla has apparently leaked the 2024 Model 3 Performance (Plaid?) tire dimensions??

A Model 3 Plaid, which is positioned above the previous performance version and is equipped with three engines like the Models X and S, could therefore be a realistic possibility. However, “Teslamag” also points out that this requires some additional effort in design and production, which Tesla usually tries to avoid.
