Ice flowers on the window, dew drops on the grass and a crunching sound of snow under your feet. These kinds of winter scenes seem a long way away this weekend, but who knows, we might be a lot colder next weekend. It will remain very mild until Thursday. In the days that follow, the cold air from the north can easily cause temperatures below freezing.

According to Jeroen Elferink, meteorologist at Weerplaza, it will still be mild until Thursday at around 18 to 19 degrees. That is higher than normal at this time of year, but it will be cooler. “It will be colder in a week and a half. That is certainly the case. Cold air is coming our way from the north. And then the question is which air will win, the warm or the cold air. That is a very difficult one. Our computers have a lot of difficulty with it.”

And will snow actually fall? “It’s a bit like shooting shotgun,” he says. “If the colder air wins, we could have night frost next weekend. And if precipitation falls that week after that, it could have a winter character.”

2 centimeters
The last time snow fell was earlier this year. Two whole centimeters of snow were measured in Volkel on January 9. It didn’t cause much hassle at the time, but it did make for nice photos.

What does Brabant look like in the snow? Well, like this:
