She responded to a hint of criticism she received five years ago from Privé star journalist Jan Uriot (73) with a tirade. He’s an irrelevant man, Samantha shouted. “When people say: ‘Name a hit by Samantha Steenwijk. No, you don’t know it!’ Well, then that’s fine of course. But they still know who Samantha Steenwijk is. But who is Jan Urinepot? I haven’t the slightest idea!”

How are things going now? “It hasn’t been resolved, but I did start to turn a bit. That happened in August last year. Then she performed at the Gay Pride on Dam Square. He continues: “I had seen her on television, but not like that. Well, the whole Dam went crazy. I respect that, I have to be honest. My grumpy towards Steenwijk has diminished, but we don’t meet each other at all.”
Sore leg
Jan points out that at the time he only wondered what Samantha actually sings. “That was a sore spot, I think. Just in or after that corona period, she was also in all the programs. Then I thought: that could be a bit less. That has also become a notch less, which makes it manageable.”
“It was also the laziness of the program makers. You can call thousands of people, but why do you have to keep calling the same lady at that moment during the corona period? I don’t know if she listened to me, but I certainly look at it differently.”
