Saudi Arabia has stirred international top football with its wild transfer sums, and now the next mega move is in the spotlight.

Italian Corriere dello Sport according to Saudi Arabia, the ambitious goal of getting a wild card to the European Champions League is pending.

According to the newspaper, in the coming months, the Saudi sheikhs may present a request to the European Football Association, with which the Saudi Arabian league champion would get a wild card for the 2024-25 season.

The format of the Champions League will change radically in a year, as the number of teams in the group stage will increase from the current 32 to 36, and instead of eight groups, all teams will compete in the same league table.

Saudi Arabia belongs to the Asian Football Confederation, and the country’s club teams normally compete in the Asian Champions League.

The oil state has invested huge amounts of money in football recently, because, among other things, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Karim Benzema have moved to the desert after bottomless salary bags.
