When ABBA announced in September 2021 that they would not only be returning with a new album, but also with a virtual reality show after a break of more than 40 years, the enthusiasm was great. VOYAGE is the name of both the album and the hologram show, which has been running every evening in a purpose-built arena in London since May 2022 and has now even been extended until November 2023. Now the rumors are piling up that David Bowie could soon have his own hologram show.

A source told the British newspaper “Sunday Mirror”: “The idea of being able to recreate David’s charisma and electric stage presence for an audience is exhilarating and the possibilities of how to do that are currently being explored. It is a very exciting time.”

Brett Morgen – the director of last year’s Bowie film Moonage Daydream – also supported the idea. He told the paper: “Voyage is one of the greatest cinematic experiences I’ve ever had. Could there be a Bowie show? I think some interesting things could happen.” However, it is not yet known whether a Bowie show is already in the starting blocks or how far the planning process has progressed.

David Bowie died of cancer in 2016. The British musician is one of the most influential artists of all time and has sold more than 140 million records throughout his life. A few days ago it was announced that Bowie’s archive had been donated to the British Victoria & Albert Museum. It includes over 80,000 items from the musician’s estate. These include letters and song lyrics, photos, music awards, costumes and instruments, and stage sets.
