Last year Paul McCartney made it into the charts with his post-beatles band Wings. Over four decades, after the separation, the live-in-studio album “One Hand Clapping”, recorded in 1974, reached the British and German album top-10. On March 21, the Wings album “Venus and Mars” from 1975, at least in tenth place in our ranking of the best McCartney albums, will be released in a “50th anniversary edition”.

The album recorded in London and New Orleans was the successor to the much praised and commercially successful “Band on the Run” from 1973. At the same time it was a kind of overture for the upcoming world tour. This should make the band one of the largest live acts of the seventies.

The last new edition of the album was published with a bonus CD/LP and DVD 2014 in the Paul McCartney Archive Collection. The new Vinyl edition for the 50th birthday appears without bonus pieces and was cut by the original master bands at half speed. The artwork was modeled on the British first edition. In addition, the album, newly mixed by Giles Martin and Steve Orchard, will be available in Dolby Atmos. This writes Universal Music in one Press release On McCartney’s official website.

“Venus and Mars” is “The First Wings Release for 2025” it says there. Fans therefore already hope that the outstanding Wings albums “London Town” and “Back to the Egg” could soon be released in the archive collection, which has been resting since 2020. A new McCartney studio album is also expected for 2025.
