The Frankfurt Skyliners are finally expelling the renegade Jaedon LeDee and are announcing legal action. The player had previously simply run away.
The farce around him striking professional basketball player Jaedon LeDee has an end. As the Frankfurt Skyliners announced on Saturday, the American and the Hessian basketball Bundesliga team are now officially going their separate ways. In order to prevent damage to the team, LeDee leaves the club. The Skyliners, who spoke of an “irreparable loss of trust”, will receive a transfer fee.
Skyliners with clear words
“We strongly condemn the fact that players willing to change are putting clubs under pressure through a strike despite an ongoing contract. We sent a clear signal in the LeDee case, but at the end of the day we cannot force players to play for us,” said managing director Gunnar Wöbke. The Skyliners will take legal action to obtain compensation for the damage caused.
LeDee traveled to the USA without prior arrangement at the end of February and did not return for three weeks. On March 11th he played again in Frankfurt, but continued to refuse to wear the Skyliners jersey again. “The last five weeks have not been easy for us due to Jaedon’s strike. We had to make a decision for the team and were forced to act,” emphasized Sebastian Gleim, the sports director.
Replacement already there
LeDee moved to Frankfurt from the USA last summer. The 26-year-old quickly developed into a top performer and played 14 competitive games for the Skyliners, who are eight points ahead of the first relegation place in the BBL before the end of the season.
For the final phase, the Skyliners signed development player Tyger Campbell, who most recently played in Australia for the Tasmania JackJumpers, with immediate effect. Campbell, who was active for Rasta Vechta in the 2024/2025 season, will receive a contract until the summer and will ensure stability.
