Iron Maiden: Bruce Dickinson stars in ABBA horror film

He will fight for survival as the main protagonist in the ABBA horror comedy “Bjorn of the Dead”.

Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson will soon be seen in a film. Namely in the horror comedy “Bjorn of the Dead”. In this he plays Bjorn from an ABBA tribute band that finds itself together with other groups in a nightclub at the beginning of an undead apocalypse. From there, together they must try to save the future of humanity and music.

ABBA meets Iron Maiden

Dickinson’s character Bjorn is part of the group Abbatoir, which still consists of bandmates Benny, Anni-Frid and Agnetha and who perform cover songs by the Swedish band ABBA live together on the weekends. After a series of disappointing performances in a dreary retirement home and a lonely bar, they are already considering whether they should stop making music. However, Benny learns about a “Battle Of The Bands” – a competition for tribute bands at the Niney Dimey club. Abbatoir see their participation as their last chance for more visibility.

Due to a series of unfortunate events at the venue, many members of the other tribute volumes end up severely injured. Although Bjorn and the rest of Abbatoir remain unharmed for the time being, the situation becomes more of a threat as the wounded transform into bloodthirsty, undead creatures.

“Sharpen your axes, Bjorn is coming”

The horror film is directed by Canadian filmmaker Elza Kephart (“Slaxx”). The original story was written by co-producers Andrew Prendergast and Dickinson’s son Austin Dickinson. The latter said in a press release about the film: “It is a great honor for me to work on this crazy adventure. Andrew, Elza and I can’t wait for you to see what’s in store. Put on your spandex, style your wigs and sharpen your axes. Bjorn is coming.”

His colleague Andrew Prendergast is also enthusiastic about the vision so far: “We’re excited to be able to create this blood-soaked gore-fest from Austin’s super-funny, frightening and chilling story about the inner workings of the music industry.”

The Mandrake Project

In addition to his screen project, Bruce Dickinson currently has a lot to do musically with The Mandrake Project – there is information about his tour here.
