Irene Schouten beaten again at 3,000 meters at World Cup, skater finishes seventh

Irene Schouten has been beaten for the second time on ‘her’ 3,000 meters at the World Cup in Calgary. The skater from Hoogkarspel was not in top form and only finished seventh. The race was won by Ragne Wiklund, who won for the second time this World Cup season.

Schouten crossed the line in Canada after 4:02.86. For comparison; she skated in Heerenveen to a time of 3:54.04. Wiklund was much faster and finished after 3:56.94. Incidentally, silver went to her teammate Marijke Groenewoud and third place went to Antoinette Rijpma – de Jong. Merel Conijn from Edam, who was allowed to participate in the main race again, finished twelfth.

The World Cup in Calgary will also be held tomorrow and Sunday.
