Investment in the Hollenbach location: JAKO expands storage capacity

With the symbolic groundbreaking, JAKO starts with the construction of a new high-bay warehouse at the headquarters in Hollenbach. The team sports equipment supplier is investing several million, thereby doubling its storage capacity. Completion is scheduled for July 2023.

After the new construction of the JAKO Teamcenter in 2016 and the expansion of the autonomous robot warehouse “AutoStore” in 2019, the family company is now investing again in the Hollenbach location. A modern high-bay mobile warehouse with a total of 12,000 pallet spaces is being built on an area of 4,500 m2.

Further storage capacities are urgently needed, according to Nadine Sprügel, CEO of JAKO: “As a team sports outfitter, it is extremely important to be able to supply our customers quickly and reliably. Our goal is to always have 95% of our items in stock. In order to be able to maintain this on our growth course, the capacities in logistics must also be increased. At the same time, we are creating new jobs for the region.”

Markus Frank, Director of IT & Logistics, adds: “The new high-bay warehouse with the doubling of the pallet spaces enables us to gradually liquidate external warehouses that we had to rent in the last few months. This not only saves us the transport routes from the external warehouses to Hollenbach, but also makes our logistics processes faster and more efficient.”

A photovoltaic system on the roof contributes to the company’s goal of making the expansion of the site as sustainable as possible. The construction project is also being implemented exclusively with regional partners and companies.
