Marcelo Tinelli He is going through one of the most difficult moments of his personal and professional life. The man who for three decades dominated the Argentine ratings today faces, almost alone, a scenario in which there are no longer business groups shielding him or television families protecting his image. On the contrary, he is surrounded by the shadows of a police report involving one of his daughters, an unconcealable family fracture, a conflict with his last ex-partner due to the media exposure of the son they share, and a mountain of debts that threaten to suffocate him. The symbol of a power that seemed eternal is falling victim to the same exposure that brought him to the top.

In strictly media terms, Tinelli is no longer that untouchable who could laugh at everything and everyone without paying consequences. Its historical protection was always the power of the rating and today it no longer has it. First leading the Telefe empire, then at Azul TV under the umbrella of Daniel Hadadlater in El Trece with the support of Grupo Clarínand in his latest television project, América, where its owners Daniel Vila, José Luis Manzano, Claudio Belocopitt and Gustavo Scaglione himself They were his godfathers. They all needed their biggest star at the top so their private scandals were swept under the rug. Today, without a strong screen, there is no longer coverage and its reliefs were visible.

Such decline coincides with an economic deterioration that became impossible to conceal. The companies he commanded accumulate rejected checks, labor lawsuits and files with the AFIP. Their properties, once a symbol of their imposing autocracy, are today in the process of seizure, sale or judicial dispute. And in parallel, in his inner circle the fractures multiply with estranged ex-wives, estranged children and a public coexistence that no one pretends anymore.

Police jurisdiction. The most sensitive and perhaps the most symbolic case is that of his daughter Juana. A week ago, the 22-year-old girl received a phone call with a direct threat towards her and her family. Juana relates in her statement: “‘I answer and a male voice asks me ‘are you Juanita Tinelli?’ I answer: ‘Yes. Who is speaking?’ The man answers me: ‘I’m Gustavo Scaglione. Your dad knows me very well. You and your entire family have to take good care of yourself.” Immediately afterwards, I cut off the communication. “The tone of voice was unmistakably threatening, I felt immediate panic, I couldn’t breathe.”

The lawyer representing the model, Juan Martin Villanuevain dialogue with NOTICIAS, explained that the complaint was filed in court and that the origin of the call is being investigated: “What is being reported is the content of the call. There is no accused. An anti-panic button was requested, it already has police custody and the prosecutor’s office is investigating the origin with the antenna crossings.”

The case, filed against a NN who calls himself “Gustavo Scaglione“, is just beginning and, in his own words, “when Justice asks us for the telephone number to assess, it will be available. My intention as a referee and that of the entire Tinelli family is to discover who specifically is behind this threat.”

The mentioned Gustavo Scaglioneone of the most important media businessmen in Argentina today and recent buyer of the Telefe channel, acknowledges being one of the main creditors of Marcelo Tinelli but categorically denied the accusation in a statement: “I want to make it clear that such a relationship lacks any basis. Throughout my business career, I have always been characterized by moderation and a low profile. The conduct that is being attempted to be attributed to me is totally alien to my principles and the way in which I have acted in all the areas in which I operate. I have nothing to do with that threat.

From the trenches of X (ex Twitter), Marcelo He revealed the pain that comes from feeling accused and exposed, publishing messages in which he regrets “failing his children” and points out that “someone very powerful” seeks to destroy him. Without explicit names, but with obvious hints, indirectly targeted Scaglione as “his main public enemy.”

Although Villanueva, Juana’s lawyer, insists that there are no accused and that everything must be clarified through the technical data of the call, the leak of tension amplified a deeper fact that surprised public opinion: the bond between Tinelli and his daughter has been broken for months.

She resigned from participating in the second season of the family reality show produced for Prime Video, upset by decisions that she considers narrative manipulations about her private life. “I am linking the slaps of my dad’s bad decisions,” he acknowledged on his social networks. And although her salary for the series would be around $30,000, like that of her other sisters, her refusal made her rethink all the scripts already written and generated discomfort in the Amazon offices.

Friendly fire. The family conflict is not new and, although it was an open secret, no one dared to reveal it. According to those close to the family, three blocks coexist in the Tinelli clan: on the one hand, Micaela and Candelaria (daughters of Soledad Aquino), very close to their father and with active participation in all his projects; on the other, Juanita and Francisco (children of Paula Robles), critical of their current role and uncomfortable with overexposure; and finally Lorenzo (“Lolo”), who remains with her mother, Guillermina Valdés, confronting the former driver for custody and the use of the image of the barely 11-year-old boy.

Without direct financial need, Valdez, who plays remotely and is the only one who makes unilateral decisions without depending on anyone, at the time publicly defended Tinelli against external accusations, but today she is convinced of her decision to cancel the private agreement to exploit her son’s image in the media.

The ex-wife of Sebastian Ortega He refused to allow Lolo to participate in the second season of the reality show and demanded strict conditions for any other public appearance. Between them, the conflict is escalating and, according to those close to them, there are legal discussions in the pipeline that, after this media storm, will take judicial action.

Although Marcelo always appears strong, economic blows were added to this emotional wear and tear for the first time. And the numbers are categorical, around $30 million in debt, according to estimates by specialists based on court records and rejected checks.

Only in LaFlia, the company that inherited the Ideas del Sur structure, would there be more than 327 million pesos in unpaid checks (figure from 2022, today aggravated by interest). Others 364 million would correspond to Publicidad e Imagen RL and almost 812 million more to personal checks. In addition, there are more than 80 labor lawsuits and files with the AFIP for unpaid contributions since 2018.

Faced with this scenario, Tinelli was forced to get rid of assets. His jewel in Punta del Este – a 2,100 square meter mansion, valued at 11 million dollars, located in one of the most exclusive enclaves in Uruguay – would be seized and its eventual sale would be intended to cover part of the debt with the businessman Scaglione, who would have seized not only the property but his accounts in Switzerland. The new owner would be a very low-profile former American financier, Tyler Lawton, retired in California. The rest of his properties are also under review or have already been sold, such as the Esquel apartment, the beach parador, a house in Bolívar and a luxurious apartment in the City of Buenos Aires that he shared with Valdés, whose expenses were around $5,000.

The economic deterioration and business protection began, those who know him agree, when he became involved in the world of football. His time at the club of his loves, San Lorenzo de Almagro, marked a before and after. The club’s accounting still includes loans, confusing financial operations and debts with private entities that, according to reports, would include the participation of a financier from Rosario who would have operated in the transfer of a player transferred to Europe in 2014. Club sources say that a businessman close to Tinelli helped him with the debt incurred for the transfer, which left the driver in a situation of weakness with his creditor.

Blaugrana stage. “Tinelli won the elections for president of San Lorenzo with more than 80 percent of the votes,” a senior manager of the Boedo club tells NOTICIAS. “But once he won, he began to exercise his position in a dictatorial manner and those of us who were not in his favor were directly enemies. He multiplied the club’s liabilities, he did not generate a competitive team and, faced with the impossibility of reversing it because he had other work commitments, he asked for leave and then resigned. From that moment on he has not been able to set foot in San Lorenzo.”

A former producer of Ideas del Sur who worked with Tinelli for more than ten years sums up the decline like this: “Marcelo was always disloyal to his people and now everything turned against him. He deceived Aquino, deceived Robles, betrayed Sebastián Ortega with Guillermina Valdés and showed the public a united family that was not such. When he was president of San Lorenzo, he took office knowing that he was not going to fulfill his mandate due to having a pre-contract with El trece and left the club sunk in debts that continue today.” A testimony without nuances, but revealing of the resentment that germinated over time.

In his last attempt to stay current, Tinelli took refuge in streaming. He was hired by Carnaval, a group that broadcasts on digital platforms, more as a form of compensation for old debts that he would have incurred during his time in San Lorenzo with the AFA, than as a new profitable project. His program debuted strongly in viewership, but was quickly poisoned by the purchase of bots that inflated the numbers on YouTube, putting the channel on the verge of a severe sanction. From the production company they describe a climate of tension: “It is not the 30-point Tinelli on Telefe. It is handled in an authoritarian manner, it goes over our heads and complicates the rest of the programs.” The relationship is broken and the channel is talking about not continuing the contract beyond December.

This series of setbacks is also linked to his personal decisions. The romance with the Peruvian model Milett Figueroawhich began as a media soap opera story with dancing, travel and romantic declarations, was transformed according to her children into “unnecessary nonsense.” The family perception is that Tinelli exposes himself in an exaggerated way and that this emotional bubble ended up further alienating those who expected a more paternal and less leading role from him.

New reality. The television patriarchy that he knew how to represent with humor and self-confidence turned against him: a 64-year-old man surrounded by young women in situations that appeal to a cartoonish sensuality is no longer funny. Times changed and that logic that turned “Bailando” into a cultural success became anachronistic. The audience that previously held now judges.
His inner circle assures that he is “beaten and recalculating,” but convinced that he will be able to rebuild his figure through streaming and family reality shows. Believe in the figure of rebirth, like the man who fell and gets up, the father who recovers his children, the debtor who honors his accounts and that television icon who will gradually become a media entrepreneur.

However, the question is whether there is still room for that heroic story or if fiction can no longer cover reality. For more than thirty years, he knew how to seduce with a game in which he dictated the rules. Their aura determined who shined, who disappeared from the spotlight, what story was told and which was covered up. Today, he faces a format that he never imagined starring in, a life without a script where he does not control the final edition. In short, Marcelo Tinelli’s difficult present is the sum of all his decisions, those that gave him absolute power and those that, silently, began to crumble him. Whether there is a triumphant return or an ending without applause will no longer be decided by the public, who for the first time seems willing to change the channel.
