The 25-year-old Comédienne and Tiktokker Davine Perik scores a viral hit with her parody of Dutch-language music for the second year in a row. “I understand that many people know me as a ‘Tiktokker’, but I am also a really comedian on stage.”
The videos that perik tap Plays, she first made it for her friends, she says, showing all kinds of old sketches on her private account on Instagram. The Comédienne is now part of the regular line-up in Comedy Club Haug in Rotterdam, but she also owes her popularity to social media. She recently released a parody of the Dutch life song, ‘Verdettond’Following her hit ‘Laura’ last year.
Perik started as a 19-year-old with stand-up comedy at her student association, where she already won a prize with her first performance. “I was the only one who participated, but I won! When I also won a national competition, I thought:” Wow, I think I’m good at this or something. ” Perik studied in Rotterdam and regularly came to the Open MIC evenings of Club Haug. “I was an unguided projectile. Fortunately they liked me and after a while I was allowed to play as a regular comedian. That means I can really develop on stage now.”
With a video about a toaster in the Blokker, Perik scored for the first time on Tiktok. “I started to post humorous, a little weird videos,” she says. “That was picked up. But I don’t post to get as many views as possible. I choose quality over quantity and make what I like. If something is not funny, then it sometimes doesn’t score.”
A bit yupperish
Perik is best known for the types in her sketches. She bases it on “people in the Albert Heijn”, or “girlfriends who say funny things to each other on the terrace.” “Sometimes I hear a statement and I think: do you really say that?! Funny! And then I write it down.” But she also finds inspiration in her own circles. “I once made a video about a roommate. She realized that, but luckily she could laugh about it.” Perik finds it difficult to compare herself with a type. “My friends are a bit yuppery. Maybe I do too.”

Periks followers grew thanks to a parody of the Dutch ‘student charts’. “Singers continued to rhyme on women’s names,” she says. “I find that kind of patterns interesting. I just turned on a sound recording app and started screaming in my phone rhymes. It was never intended that it was released as a real song.” The chorus of the song ‘Laura’ went viral on Tiktok. A follower from Perik then offered to remix the number. This version achieved nearly 3 million streams on Spotify, and perik was invited to perform at a pride party of the NTR podcast Lesbian league. “The song was out for four days, and the entire audience just went loose.”
New hit
Despite the hype around ‘Laura’, Perik has never had the ambition to become a pop singer. “I was not immediately planning to make a new song.” Yet that happened. After two weeks, ‘Verstettond’ had more than 450,000 streams on Spotify, and on Tiktok the song is already used 3,000 times in videos. “I saw that the Top 50 was completely sufficient with folk singers: Jan Smit, Mart Hoogkamer, Yves Berendse, Samuel Welten. I think that is very funny, I really have to make a parody of that.” Perik has collaborated with a producer for ‘Verstettond’. “In contrast to ‘Laura’, I really made this song to release. I came up with a type with a suit and sunglasses.”

According to Perik, Tiktok-Comedy and real stand-up cannot be compared. “On social media, for example, the emphasis is on how to edit a video. I am still developing myself very much on stage and experimenting as a stand-up comedian. It just takes a long time before you are really good at that.”
She sees that her popularity works as a Tiktokker in her favor. Her viral videos stand out and sometimes also ensure more performances. “People sometimes say that I look like Brigitte Kaandorp, especially because of my voice. I think she is very good. She is also a bit of a confused woman, just like me. I find Merijn Scholten very cool. But there are few those that are both Tiktokker and stand-up comedian.”
Nevertheless, in addition to Tiktok, she also hopes to grow up as a comedian. “In five years I want my own theater show,” she says firmly. “And if I want something, I will work hard for it.” For the time being Perik can still be booked for her parody hits. She shows a video of her first ‘Verstettond’ performance in Paradiso last week. “People went completely loose. Sing along, dancing. Vieren, right? I like to act as a type, and would like to be on stage more often.”
That is also possible, because after her successful concert last year, Perik will perform again on the Pride party of Lesbian league. “But it seems super fun to perform more often in my ‘Verstettond’ suit.”
