Intersport Germany brings purchasing expert Darius Zamani-Achtiani to the management team

The trading association Intersport Deutschland eG has filled a new management position. The company announced on Wednesday that Darius Zamani-Achtiani had been appointed Head of Category Management.

In the course of his career, the purchasing expert has held various management positions at well-known clothing suppliers such as Tom Tailor, TK Maxx and Peek & Cloppenburg Düsseldorf. Most recently he worked as a consultant.

Frank Geisler, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Intersport Germany, paid tribute to the newcomer: “We are very pleased that we were able to win Darius Zamani-Achtiani for our management team. He has decades of experience in purchasing for a wide variety of retail companies and will drive our growth with new impulses together with Tim Bielohoubeck in the team,” he said in a statement.

According to the retail association, the appointment was made as part of a realignment of the category management teams. “In order to optimally shape further growth together with our partners, we will adapt category management to the new requirements and thus focus more strongly again,” explained Geisler. “In addition, as part of our collaboration with Intersport International Corporation, IIC, we will work even more closely with our partners on an international level.”

As part of the reform, Bielohoubeck will “be responsible for national and international supplier management and strategic purchasing as head of department in the future and will network more closely with colleagues at the IIC and other national organizations in the future,” says Geisler. Together, Bielohoubeck and Zamani-Achtiani would now “form a powerful duo”.
