Intersport boss new president of the trade association

Intersport Germany boss Alexander von Preen is the new president of the German trade association (HDE).

The 57-year-old was elected to office on Wednesday with a large majority, as the association announced. Von Preen takes over from Josef Sanktjohanser, who announced his retirement after 16 years as HDE President.

Von Preen worked for the management consultancy Kienbaum Consultants for more than 20 years and has been Managing Director of Intersport Germany since 2018. According to HDE information, he held several supervisory board and association mandates in the economic and retail environment, which he gave up in the course of applying for association president. According to a company spokeswoman, he will remain the German head of the European Intersport Group, and he will take on the post at HDE on a voluntary basis.
