On Monday 1 September the internet consultation of the Letter Sport Act will start. This bill regulates, among other things, the establishment of an independent integrity center for sport, Integer Sport Nederland (ISN). This supports the sports sector in tackling integrity violations in sport: doping, competition manipulation and socially unsafe behavior. Everyone can think along about this bill until the end of October via the internet consultation.
It is important that Dutch sport is honest and socially safe – and therefore honest. Sport is fair when it is free from doping and competition manipulation, and socially safe when there is no socially unsafe behavior. In recent years, several cases of integrity violations have come to light, in particular in the field of socially unsafe behavior. This played in, among other things, the gymnastics, gym, dance, athletics, wheelchair basketball and swimming.
State Secretary Tielen of Public Health, Welfare and Sport: “The Sports Environment is an excellent place where everyone should feel at ease. It cannot be that athletes with a knot in their stomach go to the club or that parents are worried about the safety of their child. Unfortunately, it is still going wrong. The sports world must be taken to be vulnerable again. step.”
Integer Sport Nederland (ISN)
In ISN, the current Doping Authority and the Center for Safe Sport Nederland of NOC*NSF are merged into one independent organization. ISN will investigate reports in the field of doping, competition manipulation and socially unsafe behavior and advise the sports sector about the follow -up of the reports. Until ISN has been established, these organizations remain the counter for these reports.
Thinking along until the end of October
During the internet consultation, which is open from 1 September to the end of October, everyone (athletes, sports providers and other interested parties) can make suggestions via Internetconsultatie.nl for improving the bill. After the consultation period, all responses will be viewed and the bill will be adjusted if necessary. The result of the consultation and the processing thereof in the bill is stated in a report on the website. This happens after the Council of Ministers has approved the bill and sends to the Council of State for advice. This is followed by a proposal to the House of Representatives as quickly as possible.
