Lily Allen publicly apologized for her earlier statements about Katy Perry’s recent excursion into space. The British singer thought in her podcast “Miss me?” Again about her harsh words with which she had criticized Perry’s participation in space mission.
All had criticized the passengers of the Blue Origin flight for showing him as a “kind of feminist action”. “The only congratulating is the rocket scientist Aisha Bowe,” says Allen, the trip is “foreign to the world”. Her podcast partner and TV presenter Miquita Oliver said: “Now it is really not the most appropriate time to send Katy Perry into space”, which was all united: “For absolutely no damned reason! And then to pretend that we are sending things into space-for scientific reason,” called the musician. “We are about to recession. People fight damn hard to make ends meet and bring food to the table,” it said. She also emphasized the ‘terrible time’ of the advertised journey. “I mean what the hell is supposed to do? But seriously: what? Why? What for?”
Return and explanation
In the next Podcast episode, Lily Allen admitted that her reaction was shaped by “internalized misogynia”. Katy Perry took her out unfairly, while the other women could have shared the guilt. “I actually want to apologize for talking about Katy Perry so mean last week,” said Allen in the new episode about her co-moderator Miquita Oliver. “It was actually completely unnecessary to bring her name into play, that was my own internalized misogyny. I thought a lot about it. And it was just completely unnecessary to tackle it.”
However, everyone distanced themselves from their statements regarding Katy Perry, but their criticism of the overall campaign remains: “I thought a lot about it, and it was just completely unnecessary to follow up with her. I disagree with the flight, but she was not the only one who took part.
Everyone is fundamentally against the mission, but Katy Perry should not be held responsible for it: “I don’t know, something in me has made me choose it as a person. Well, I’m sorry. I would have been hurt if I had been in her place and someone from my industry would have used me and my name.”
Criticism of Katy Perry’s all mission
The excitement began when Katy Perry flew into space with the space company “Blue Origin” by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos in a purely female line-up in early April. But instead of harvesting admiration, the flight met with broad criticism. Actress Olivia Munn called Perry’s participation “selfish”, model and influencer Emily Ratajkowski also showed “disgusted”. There was also negative comments on social media.
Also musically headwind for Perry
The controversy about space flight is not the only problem with which Katy Perry has been struggling lately. Shortly after the beginning of her “Lifetimes” tour in Mexico City, videos made the round on the net, in which fans shared recordings of the live show and wrote how disappointing they were stage show and choreography.
A followers commented on Instagram: “So lifeless and indifferent, for an opening show … Katy already looks bored.” One user even said: “Looks like a Behind-the scenes video before CGI is inserted.”
Despite this, the tour continues. There are also appearances in Berlin, Hanover and Cologne for October 2025. Tickets are already available.
