Left back with Dimarco as a model, Matteo who made his debut in Serie A at Dall’Ara became Nerazzurri in 2021 when he was purchased by Bologna
Matteo Cocchi made three dreams come true in one fell swoop. With his fifteen minutes at the Dall’Ara, the stadium an hour’s drive from Molinella, the village where he was born and raised, he made the whole family proud: grandfather Claudio, father Edgardo and obviously him too, who placed on the left with personality on the day of his debut in Serie A with the Nerazzurri.

Cocchi, 19 years old, left-handed full-back of the Under 23 team already fielded by Chivu from the start in the Italian Cup against Torino, played in the rossoblù youth team. The same ones in which his father won a student championship as a goalkeeper. It was 1989. The coach was a gentleman with dark glasses: Davide Ballardini. His grandfather also put on gloves. In Molinella it is a sort of legend. Matteo broke the vicious circle by becoming a full-back that the Nerazzurri are banking on, so much so that they have locked him up until 2030. Chivu gave him his debut in Serie A. Last year Inzaghi made his professional debut in the Champions League against Feyenoord. This season, however, he was one of the cornerstones of Vecchi’s team in Serie C: one goal and two assists. “He and Mosconi have been training with us for three months” said Chivu. “I’m happy for them, they have quality and should be played.”

Before wearing the Nerazzurri shirt he played for Bologna: striker, winger, playmaker, finally full-back. “He scored a lot of goals even as a child,” said his father. Inter harpooned him in 2021. From there he never left the Nerazzurri. The last note is the tattoos. The key to opening his world: “I have a rose for my sister, my two dogs, the number 3 and a lighthouse”, he told us in 2024. Who knows if in the future there will also be room for one on his debut in Serie A. Almost close to home.
