After Lautaro Martinez, Matias Vecino also tested positive for Covid-19. With the difference that the midfielder had already reached the withdrawal of Uruguay and therefore will remain in isolation in Montevideo. In his place, coach Diego Alonso called Fabricio Díaz, captain of the Under 20 Celeste, in view of the two matches of the qualifying round in Qatar 2022 against Peru and Chile.

Without the 12 nationals, the team meanwhile resumed training after the two days of rest granted by Inzaghi. The boys from Chivu’s Primavera were added to the few survivors, who were also reduced to the bone by the various calls. While Lautaro is forced into his home in Milan, Brozovic and De Vrij have not been seen on the pitch. The two will follow a personalized program (even during working hours) for the whole week, and then join their teammates from next Tuesday. Official confirmation is missing, but Inzaghi should in fact allow three more days off from Saturday to Monday inclusive.
