Inter, Mkhitaryan recovers from injury: group training

The ballot is open, Henrikh Mkhitaryan has no intention of letting go. In fact, the Armenian midfielder continues to aim for the starting position in the Champions League final in Istanbul, which alternatively would end up in Marcelo Brozovic. On the contrary, in reality the Croatian obviously has the advantage because Inzaghi first wants to have positive feedback on the physical conditions of the former Roma, now stopped – at the level of official matches – from the Champions League semi-final derby against Milan in which he had to leave from the field due to injury. However, today the 34-year-old has taken another step towards full recovery.

In fact, in the penultimate training session in Appiano Gentile before leaving for Turkey, Mkhitaryan returned to working 100% with the group. It is certainly the answer that the staff and the player himself needed, because a further postponement would have effectively eliminated the chances of a jersey from the first minute against Manchester City, handing the left midfielder slot to Calhanoglu and directing to Brozovic. Instead, the ballot remains open: if the Armenian confirms that he is well enough, the place would probably belong to him, but the late return from the physical problem could weigh on Inzaghi’s choice also due to a rather fit Brozovic. In any case Mkhitaryan will arrive at the match on June 10 at the Ataturk with three complete training sessions in his legs: today’s one, Thursday’s before the Milan-Istanbul flight – scheduled for the afternoon – and the finishing touches on the eve in Turkey. Joaquin Correa is also proceeding on the road to recovery, but even in the Wednesday session he was divided between a first part in a group and a second part of personalized work: no ballot in this case, the Tucu will start from the bench.
