Champions League beats Conference League: Inter Milan successfully defended their title in the Italian Cup thanks to Lautaro Martinez’s double.
In the final in Rome, coach Simone Inzaghi’s team beat Conference League finalists Fiorentina 2-1 (2-1) and can dream of a third title of the season before the final in the premier class on June 10 against Manchester City.
Former Stuttgart player Nicolas Gonzalez, who played for VfB in the Bundesliga from 2018 to 2021, gave Fiorentina an early lead (3rd). His Argentina team-mate Martinez turned the game around in favor of Inter before the break (29’/37′).
The Nerazzurri celebrated their ninth triumph in the Coppa, and the team around international player Robin Gosens, who came on in the 68th minute, won the Supercup against champions and city rivals AC at the beginning of the season.
Fiorentina have another title chance on June 7th. The traditional club from Tuscany meets Premier League representatives West Ham United in the final of the third most important continental competition at club level.
