Ronald Koeman has held talks with the KNVB to become national coach of the Dutch national team after the World Cup in Qatar. Louis van Gaal’s contract then expires. According to the NOS 58-year-old Zaandammer is already putting together his staff.
Koeman has been without an employer since the end of October. The trainer was then fired from FC Barcelona because of the disappointing results. Koeman was also national coach of Orange between 2018 and 2020 and then opted for the adventure in Spain.
In August, he announced that he would not fulfill his contract with the Dutch national team and was leaving for Barcelona. In his first season with the Catalans, he won the Spanish Cup.
The Dutch national team is currently preparing for the matches in the Nations League. On March 26, the Orange squad will play a friendly against Denmark and three days later, Germany will visit.
