Intact GP misses home win by a hair’s breadth

The Japanese motorcycle pilot Ayumu Sasaki missed the home win for the German team Intact GP at the Sachsenring by a hair’s breadth. In the Moto3 race at the German Grand Prix, the 22-year-old only had to let Turkey’s Deniz Öncü pass him in the last corner. It was the first Grand Prix victory for the KTM rider.

Sasaki (Husqvarna) led for a long time, but Öncü pushed through on the inside just before the finish. “It’s the most disappointing second place I’ve ever experienced,” said Intact GP team manager Peter Öttl on ServusTV: “Shit, the disappointment is great, losing in the last corner is tough.”
