Today, the scheme has been published with which homeowners in Groningen and Northern Drenthe can request insulation subsidy to insulate and ventilate their home to the standard for home insulation. A home meets the standard when it is sufficiently insulated to become natural gas -free. For homeowners who want to use the subsidy retroactively, the counter opens on 3 June. From 2 September the counter opens step by step for homeowners who still want to take insulation or ventilation measures.

The scheme is part of Nij Begun and runs over the next ten years. The insulation approach is one of Nij Begun’s measures to resolve the honorary debt to Groningen and Noord-Drenthe as a result of gas extraction. The result of the insulation approach is a well -insulated house and a lower energy bill.

Subsidy with retroactive effect: from 3 June 2025

Homeowners who have already taken insulation and/or ventilation measures between 25 April 2023 and 2 June 2025 can apply for a subsidy with retroactive effects from 3 June 2025 from 3 June 2025. These requests can be submitted up to and including 1 October 2026. More information is available on www.snn.nl/isolatienijbeguntwk.

Request a new subsidy: from 2 September 2025

For new applications, the subsidy counter opens on 2 September 2025, phased by postcode area. There is enough money available for anyone who is eligible for this subsidy. There is also plenty of time – until 3 June 2035 – to make the application. After granting the subsidy, there is two years to carry out the work.

Insulation plan: when necessary, when not

To determine which insulation and ventilation measures are needed to comply with the insulation standard, homeowners can have an insulation adviser come by. The insulation advisor makes an insulation plan. The plan is simple, free and gives well -founded advice to homeowners, which measures are needed to get the standard. The focus is on ventilation in this. Good ventilation is needed to prevent fungus in the home, among other things.

The insulation plan is a useful tool, but not always mandatory. For individual measures and if the total costs remain below € 10,000, homeowners can also work without an insulation plan. Think of a single measure, such as cavity wall insulation or floor insulation. This applies to homes that were built between 1965 and 1991 and are not a monument.

Monthly opening of the subsidy counter

The possibility to apply for a subsidy starts from 2 September 2025. Every month the counter opens for new postcodes to prevent queues. From August 2026 the counter is open for all postcode areas and the insulation subsidy remains available up to and including 2035. Look here for the order of the postcode phasing. Requests run through the SNN.

Support with every step

From the moment the subsidy counter opens in September, homeowners can get support with every step: from making an insulation plan to applying for a subsidy and performing the work.
