After finishing fourth at the World Cup in Qatar with Morocco, Azzedine Ounahi has been linked to many clubs – from SSC Napoli to FC Barcelona or Leicester City to Paris Saint-Germain. The contract for the 22-year-old midfielder of the Ligue 1 bottom Angers SCO has now apparently been awarded to league rivals Olympique Marseille. According to consistent media reports, the clubs and Ounahi agree on the transfer.

Update Jan 28 6:31pm: As they briefly announced on Saturday, both clubs have basically agreed on the conditions of a permanent transfer.

Like “RMC Sports“, “Foot Mercato” and Fabrizio Romano write, the legal footer will soon join the traditional club and sign a contract valid until 2027. The transfer fee is said to be 10 million euros including bonuses, Angers will receive a resale participation. This means that the sum is significantly lower than initially rumored, especially with regard to a move to the Premier League, there was talk of up to 45 million euros. It can now be strongly doubted that these were really offered approximately.

With this sum, 8 million euros plus 2 million in bonuses, Ounahi will not rank among the five most expensive departures from Angers. Momo Cho (19), who switched to Real Sociedad in the summer, is in 5th place with 11 million euros. In 2020/21, SC Freiburg paid 10 million euros for Baptiste Santamaria. As a result of the good World Cup performances, Ounahi was one of the biggest gainers in market value, increasing to 15 million euros.
