Instagram is trying to get its new social media platform released in the summer, Bloomberg reports. The publication may happen as early as June.

The new text-based social media platform is meant to compete with Twitter.

According to Bloomberg, Instagram is currently testing its project with public figures and social media influencers. The project has been tested for months.

The new platform is separate from Instagram, but allows you to connect your account to your Instagram account. Instagram is owned by Meta, which also owns Facebook.

Reminds me of Twitter

Based on the screenshot published on Twitter, the new platform looks a lot like Twitter.

Already in March, Meta confirmed that it was investigating the possibility of establishing a “decentralized social network that distributes text updates”.

Facebook, owned by Meta, has had difficulty finding new users. Instagram also has to compete hard against the Chinese Tiktok.
