The end of the season is extremely important for BVB. Nico Schlotterbeck will no longer be able to help the club rescue the season goals.
Nico Schlotterbeck will no longer be available to Borussia Dortmund this season. As BVB announced on Monday, the defender suffered a meniscal tear in the left knee. Sports director Sebastian Kehl said about the diagnosis: “Nico’s failure hits us very hard. He is a very important part of our team and convinced this season with consistently good performances.”
And further: “We hope that he will quickly get fit again and get the maximum support from us on the way back.” Schlotterbeck was regularly set this season and was one of the most reliable players in the squad. With his injury, the Dortmund back team not only lacks a stabilizing factor, but also a professional with a great presence in the game structure.
The club did not provide any information about the type of treatment. According to the German Press Agency, Schlotterbeck suffered the injury in training. The injury is also bitter for national coach Julian Nagelsmann: the 25-year-old defender was part of the DFB team, which was qualified for the first time for the Final Four in the Nations League. Schlotterbeck will miss the final tournament (June June 8th) in Munich and Stuttgart.
For the “black and yellow” we will continue on Wednesday (from 9 p.m. in the T-Online Livetecker) in the Champions League with coach Hansi Flick and FC Barcelona in the quarter-final first leg. The second leg in Dortmund then increases the following week (Tuesday, from 9 p.m.).
