Injury malaise continues at winning AZ, Odgaard and Meerdink drop out

AZ has booked a simple victory against RKC Waalwijk. It became 3-0 in Alkmaar thanks to goals from Sven Mijnans, Mayckel Lahdo and Myron van Brederode. Smetje on the three-pointer was that Jens Odgaard and Mexx Meerdink were injured.

Knowing that Jesper Karlsson and Vangelis Pavlidis were unable to compete due to injuries, Jens Odgaard started at center forward. His replacement on right winger was Mayckel Lahdo. On the instructions of jubilee Yukinari Sugawara (150th game ed.), Sven Mijnans scored the 1-0 after eight minutes.

Odgaard had to be replaced after a collision with goalkeeper Joel Pereira, Mexx Meerdink then came in. Myron van Brederode had a great chance before the break, but Pereira was able to save. Goalkeeper Mathew Ryan kept his team going with a good chance for Mats Seuntjens.

Meerdink, Odgaard’s replacement, was left in the dressing room at halftime with an injury. AZ was not deterred and struck via Lahdo. The attacker shot the ball hard behind Pereira: 2-0. A goal from Van Brederode brought AZ completely into a safe haven. He tapped Reijnders’ cross into the goal: 3-0.

AZ then loosened the reins a bit and saw that Yassin Oukili and Seuntjens shot wide of the target. Goals were not easy, so the Alkmaarders simply won. The difference with number three Ajax is only two points and that is the opponent in Amsterdam on May 6.

Setup AZ: Ryan; Sugawara, Beukema, Hatzidiakos, Kerkez; Clasie (Bazoer/68), Reijnders, Mijnans; Lahdo, Odgaard (Meerdink/21, Mihailovic/46), Van Brederode
