Knee surgery for BTSV top performer – long absence

Bad news for Eintracht Braunschweig: Lino Tempelmann was injured for a long time – and even had to undergo surgery. The sports director speaks of a serious loss.
Now it is clear: Eintracht Braunschweig will have to make do without Lino Tempelmann in the coming weeks. The 26-year-old midfielder underwent minor knee surgery on Wednesday after recently complaining of persistent discomfort. Eintracht announced this late on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the club, the operation was successful. Accordingly, Tempelmann will now initially complete his rehabilitation in Munich. He will not be available to the team during this time.
“Lino’s knee problems have been bothering him for several weeks now. We have repeatedly tried to get him fit for the competitive games with treatments and reduced training. Unfortunately that didn’t work against VfL Bochum,” explained sports director Benjamin Kessel. He was not very optimistic about the personnel on Tuesday.
Kessel emphasized that the decision to have the operation was the right one for all parties despite his absence from sports: “Even though it is a very painful loss for us in terms of sport, it was right that he underwent the procedure,” said Kessel. “We very much hope that Lino will soon be pain-free and will then be fully available to us with his qualities. We wish him the best possible healing process and look forward to his return.”
Tempelmann is one of the central players at Eintracht. Last season, after his loan move from FC Schalke 04 to Braunschweig, he played a decisive role in BTSV’s survival in the 2nd Bundesliga. Eintracht finally signed Tempelmann firmly. In the current season he only made eight appearances due to injury.
If he has his way, there will be a few more games after the first series. On his Instagram channel he is combative and is aiming for a comeback soon. “I never tire of fighting back again,” he writes in English.
