One person was injured in an explosion in an upstairs apartment on the Sont in Hoofddorp this evening. The victim had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance. As a precaution, surrounding homes have been temporarily evacuated.
The explosion was reported around 8 p.m. A fire then broke out in the upstairs apartment. “The fire was quickly under control,” a fire brigade spokesperson said. “As a precaution, we asked local residents if they could temporarily leave their homes.”
The fire brigade will still check the house where the explosion took place. Local residents who left their homes after the explosion can now return to their homes.
The cause of the explosion is being investigated.
