She is used to high performance, but the weekend in Hochfilzen didn’t go as desired for Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold. That had consequences.
She is one of the most experienced biathletes on the Norwegian team: Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold. But the fan favorite was completely distraught after the weekend in Hochfilzen in Austria. The Norwegian broadcaster TV2 published a video of the 29-year-old. The four-time world champion can be seen crying and needing to be hugged. The photos were taken after the chase on Sunday.
Tandrevold made three shooting errors and only finished in 32nd place. In the sprint she came 27th. Previously in Östersund, she even came 69th in the sprint and was 11th in the individual. She explained to the TV station: “I’m just a little sad. That’s just what happens to you, and of course it’s not embarrassing or strange when you put so much into what you do. I had a very bad start to the season.”
The Norwegian then continued with tears in her eyes: “I’m trying to stay really positive, keep going and work – everything I can. It’s going step by step in the right direction, but it’s clear that you feel a bit discouraged when you feel like you’re back to where you were when you were 20.”
Tandrevold performed well in the relay and took second place. That’s why Tandrevold also said: “That’s biathlon, it’s always up and down… I can only wish that it goes up a little more.”
Last season, the experienced athlete was the third best on the Norwegian team behind Maren Kirkeeide and Karoline Knotten. However, the latter is no longer part of the national team in terms of training and organization. Biathlon icon Ole Einar Bjørndalen was very upset about this. He said on TV2: “I’m a bit embarrassed to be Norwegian.”
