ERC Ingolstadt achieved their next success in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) with a surprising amount of effort. The league leaders beat Dresdner Eislöwen, bottom of the table, 3-2 (1-0, 1-1, 0-1, 1-0) after extra time – and thus extended their club record to ten wins in a row.
Myles Powell scored for coach Mark French’s team (6th), Kenny Agostino made it 2-0 (25th) and then decided the game in overtime (62nd). Andrew Yogan (31st) and Dane Fox (48th) were successful for the newcomer, for whom assistant coach Petteri Kilpivaara is now responsible on an interim basis after the entire sporting leadership was thrown out.
After the 1:6 debacle on Wednesday against the second-to-last Iserlohn Roosters, the Eislöwen parted ways with coach Niklas Sundblad and demoted sports director Matthias Roos. Two days later, Iserlohn managed a surprising 3-1 win against EHC Red Bull Munich. For the Munich team it was the first defeat after four wins.
Cologne wins in the pursuit duel
In the pursuit duel, the Kölner Haie won 2-0 against the Straubing Tigers and drew level with their opponents on points. It was also the fourth defeat in a row for a weakening Straubinger team. The Adler Mannheim also benefited from Straubing’s result after their 4-2 win against the Schwenninger Wild Wings. The Adler moved past Straubing in the table and are now in second place, only one point separates them from Ingolstadt.
Meanwhile, the Eisbären Berlin celebrated a clear victory in Wolfsburg. The reigning champions defeated the Grizzlys 6-1 without injured top striker Ty Ronning and are now in seventh place.
