Without İlkay Gündoğan, Manchester City collected the first defeat of the season in the Premier League. On the second match day, the team of coach Pep Guardiola Tottenham Hotspur lost 0: 2 (0: 2). Brennan Johnson (35th minute) and ex-Munich João Palhinha (45.+2) met for the Spurs, who celebrated the second win in the second game.
With James Trafford, Rayan Aït-Nouri, Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki, there were four newcomers in the Guardiola starting eleven. His counterpart only sent a summer transfer into the race with Bayern loan. The second former Bayern professional, Mathys Tel, and HSV flirt Luka Vuskovic sat on the bench for over 90 minutes.
Gündoğan did not make it into the Citizens’ squad. This further heated up the alternating speculation around the 34-year-old. According to the “picture”, a change there is currently not realistic due to a high salary package. Guardiola wants to reduce his squad shortly before the end of the transfer period.
