The two have become friends on the set of the Beauty and the Nerd reality show. Since then, Juha has become a sports center coordinator and Anu a healer who participates in indigenous ceremonies in South America in a documentary. They include ayahuasca. It is a psychoactive drink that affects consciousness.

The documentary tells that Ayahuasca is an illegal drug in Finland. In Brazil, for example, its use is allowed. Juha has never heard of the substance, but Anu is very familiar with it.

– Kambo is practically frog poison. Small holes are burned into the surface of the skin, where the poison is put, Anu says in the program.

As a result, Anu vomits furiously, which she thinks is a cleansing reaction. There’s more going on.

– My face is completely swollen. I can’t talk now. I’m all swollen and numb. This has never happened in Kambo before, Anu admits to the camera.

After returning to Finland, Anu ends up in isolation and IV in the hospital’s infection department. He was taken there by ambulance. The purpose is to rule out exotic diseases such as malaria and yellow fever. Anu suffers from severe back and lower limb pain.

– I have wished for more care and concern in my life. That’s all this has been since my return from the jungle. This disease did not come to me in vain.

– In the hospital, I got to experience everything that I had missed for a long time. I came to be seen, I was well taken care of. Everyone treated me with great empathy and love.

The sometimes hard-to-swallow documentary deals more with Anu’s life than Juha’s. Anu is also clearly more vocal, while Juha has the role of a listener, and also an apologist. The man does not share the same worldview as Anu, but he still does not reject her. Until the end, Juha tries to understand his friend as best he can.
