On the 18th matchday of the 3rd league, TSV 1860 Munich traveled to FC Ingolstadt for the Upper Bavaria duel. After falling behind early on, the Lions turned the game around and managed a 2-1 away win despite being sent off.
In an intense duel, FC Ingolstadt initially took the lead, but TSV 1860 Munich managed to turn the intense game around. After being sent off, the Lions had to do everything they could to maintain a 2-1 lead (1-1 at halftime).
In the Upper Bavaria duel, both fan camps started with atmospheric choreos. After three wins in a row, the Lions are still within striking distance of the promotion places, but FC Ingolstadt recently proved that they are fighting for every point.
More surprising Opening goal
The Lions had the first opportunity. After three minutes, Sigurd Haugen beat Max Plath, but the striker’s finish was too harmless. In a phase in which the Sixties actually had more of the game, Dennis Kaygin scored to make it 1-0 for Ingolstadt. The Schanzer combined nicely in front of the penalty area, where Kaygin had plenty of space from 14 meters and finished ice-cold.
Haugen with opportunities
Kevin Volland then missed the equalizer once (32nd minute) and twice Sigurd Haugen (27th and 39th minute). In the 41st minute, the Norwegian finally headed the ball over the line to make the score 1-1 at halftime.
The start of the second half clearly belonged to the guests. In the 54th minute, Haugen missed the next big chance. After a strong reception, the striker was denied by FCI goalkeeper Kai Eisele.
Lions turn game
It had become apparent: after just under an hour, Patrick Hobsch turned the game around. The striker initiated his own goal, Volland had too much space on the right side and set up for Hobsch, who easily prevailed in the aerial duel. Score: 1:2.
Many Interruptions
Afterwards, interruptions characterized the game. First, Kevin Volland was sent off with a yellow-red card in the 68th minute. Volland had hit Jonas Scholz in the head with his foot, but the Ingolstadt defender had also bent down quite low. A tough decision.
A good ten minutes later, Haugen and Eisele rattled together. After a back pass that was too short, both went to the ball at high speed. The bleeding striker was replaced. The Lions then defended their narrow lead with all their might despite being outnumbered. In the eleven minutes of stoppage time, keeper Thomas Dähne held on to the lead.
