Sergio Ciscar (Arón Piper) has just finished serving six years for the murder of his parentscommitted when he was still a minor. Since the evening he threw them from the balcony of their home, he no longer uttered a word. Hence the title of the series, In silence. He did not say a word to the judges or to others, so it is not known what prompted him to commit a similar act. Even now, away from prison, Sergio does not speak. And most importantly, he doesn’t trust anyone.
The moment he is released back into the wild, they begin the investigations coordinated by Ana Dussuel (Almudena Amor). The psychiatrist and her trusted collaborators must observe Sergio’s movements and understand how socially dangerous he is. To do this, they monitor him day and night through cameras installed both in the house and on the street.
From the start, Ciscar’s story turns out to be more interesting than expected. Ana calls him “a malignant, extremely intelligent narcissist.” During his adolescence he alternated “scholastic successes with an emotional detachment from the family”. And, little by little, he became aggressive. The team’s goal is to ascertain his level of self-control.

Sergio, divided between the relationship with Marta and the search for his sister Noa
They fit into the story other characters. First of all, Marta (Cristina Kovani), a girl with whom he established an epistolary relationship during the years of detention. She is engaged to Eneko (Manu Ríos), but the correspondence with Sergio gave birth to a feeling in her. Unexpectedly, she is the only person Ciscar can open up to and Ana is a card to play in favor of the investigation.
In addition to having to reintegrate into society, through a journey in a recovery community, Sergio has an even more important goal: to find his sister Noa. When she killed her parents, Noa was just a child and she was adopted by another family. Also, Marta was his piano teacher. For Sergio, finding her becomes an obsession and it could be Marta who helps him.
Episode after episode, the plot becomes more and more intertwined. Eneko discovers the relationship between the protagonist of In silence and his fiancée, some flaws of the recovery community emerge, especially the figure of Ana becomes more and more central. Observe Sergio day and night, intent on discovering the reason why he killed his parents. Maybe he really isn’t the culprit or perhaps there was something sick in his relationship with his parents, especially his mother.

His thirst for truth collides with the investigative needs and with the reluctance of some colleagues, in particular of Cabrera (Aitor Luna). It is clear that the deputy commissioner does not tolerate the presence of the psychiatrist e does everything to hinder the investigation. Probably because he has something to hide. And he’s not the only one.

Ana discovers that she has several things in common with Sergio and gets attached. She sleeps in the office, neglects her husband and daughter and is certain that, deep down, Ciscar is a victim of her mother. She gave him drugs that altered his mood, turning him into an aggressive person. All to carry out one of his experiments commissioned by some pharmaceutical companies.
Matters come to a head in the latest episode, as each character has to face the consequences of their actions. Between corrupt cops and psychiatrists who are perhaps too involved, to unravel the skein is Noa. In a context of adults acting like crazed splinters, it is the only one to still retain a shred of rationality and to see reality for what it is. And she is the only one who understands which turn she will take the relationship between Ana and Sergio, even before everyone else notices it. And to step aside before the consequences can overwhelm her.

Written by Aitor Gabilondo and not based on a true story, In silence is an interesting series, which deals with a delicate subject: the reintegration into society of the condemned. Despite the plots, sometimes excessive and sometimes surreal, has the advantage of showing both sides of the coin. On the one hand, the good ones, that is those who have to take care of Sergio once he is free; on the other, the bad guys, or those who want to put a spoke in his wheels. However, the distinction between good and evil soon blurs and nuances take over.
No one can be said to be fully innocent, just as no one can be said to be fully guilty. Once the roles are mixed, who can decide what is right and what is wrong? And especially, Is Ana’s simple devotion to the profession or has she unknowingly developed a real obsession with Sergio?
The answer comes at the end, five seconds before the end credits, when the twist breaks in that subverts the plot and expectations. And it leaves the viewer with a bad taste in the mouth, although the solution adopted by the screenwriters is perhaps the only really plausible one, capable of putting a stop to an endless escalation of tension.
