In Rocca di Papa a great show with the FEI World Championships 2022 of full competition and attacks

After Piazza di Siena and the Longines Global Champions Tour, which ended yesterday at the Circus Maximus, the capital and its province are preparing for the FEI World Championships in two disciplines, the complete competition (from 15 to 18 September) which qualifies for the Paris Olympic Games 2024 and the attacks (from 21 to 25 September), both hosted in the Equestrian Sports Facility of Rocca di Papa at the Pratoni del Vivaro.

A highly anticipated event will take place at the Pratoni, near Rome, already home to the European Championships in 1995 and 2007 and the World Equestrian Games in 1998, presented today at the Salone d’Onore del Coni. “Returning to Rocca di Papa for two world championships is an extraordinary event – said Marco Di Paola, president of the Italian Federation of Equestrian Sports – It will be a compatible, sustainable and inclusive event”. The full competition will be attended by knights and Amazons from 4 continents representing 27 nations. Among the entrants, the number one of the FEI ranking, the British Oliver Townend, the Germans Michael Jung and Sandra Auffarth and the British Rosalind Canter, winners of the last three World Championships (2010, 2014 and 2018). The Pratoni del Vivaro thus return to their ancient splendor. The signing of an ad hoc protocol for the redevelopment and care of the area, located within the Colli Albani Regional Park, took place last July 27 in the presence of Zingaretti himself, Di Paola and the Mayor of Rocca di Papa , Veronica Cimino, and allowed not only to proceed with the interventions on the plants and the park area, but also a robust improvement of the surrounding road arteries: a precious infrastructural heritage for the territory of Rocca di Papa, Rocca Priora and Velletri, all by focusing on the utmost attention to the surrounding environment, with environmentally friendly materials, less consumption and encumbrance of green areas and particular attention to lighting. The redevelopment of the Pratoni del Vivaro fits perfectly within the mission of the Fise: equestrian sports represent an ideal driving force for the dissemination of issues inherent to the world of nature and, consequently, for awareness and greater social responsibility, made necessary in a world like the present one, in which the environmental emergency has become a topic on the agenda. The Fise, as shown by the strong green and bio-sustainable push of the Piazza di Siena competition and the care of the area carried out throughout the year thanks to the joint work with Sport and Health, has therefore chosen to relaunch the Pratoni del Vivaro not only in terms of the single equestrian event, but within a broader discourse: the desire for a positive legacy for the territory and an intent to safeguard biodiversity, fighting against CO2 emissions. Thanks to the redevelopment of the entire surrounding area, the Equestrian Sports Facility of Rocca di Papa takes on a practical value not only in the fight against pollution, but also symbolic: sport that becomes a megaphone of an educational and green message .
