Homewear brand Tekla opens its first physical store.

Located in its hometown of Copenhagen, the brand’s first store will combine historical references with the house’s rituals, Tekla announced last week. A selection of Tekla classics and exclusive products such as boxer shorts, T-shirts and sleeping masks are offered on a total of 200 square meters.

The store is housed in the Egmont building, built in 1930. The historic building was named after the client Egmont Petersen – a Danish publisher and modernist. The “Nordic classicism” of the building was a source of inspiration for the Tekla architectural team, with quality and thoughtful design as the main priorities. These should reflect both the history of the building and the Tekla brand, according to the statement.

The store’s design elements include a “carpet of light” on the ceiling, minimalist concrete floors that reference the brand’s aesthetic, and stucco details that are meant to evoke the building’s past use. Natural wood and metal elements as well as vintage furniture complete the shop design.

In addition to the regular opening hours of the shop at Vognmagergade 7, there is also the possibility to arrange personal appointments with Tekla’s advisors.
