In Noordhove: This catering business has replaced Cafeteria Marietje Noordhove

The doors of cafeteria Marietje next to the Noordhove shopping center had been closed for some time. After a long wait, some local residents hoped that they would soon be able to get their trusted bag of fries, croquettes and frikandellen again. But in the meantime, a new tenant has been found who has renovated the place and opened a new catering business a week ago.

Zoetermeer residents Sohrab Ajiz and Yusef Sarwary have years of experience in the hospitality industry. Their dream, their own business, has come true with Food Shack. A delivery and takeaway restaurant serving a mix of Mexican and Italian food.

Subheading of a few words

During our visit to Sohrab and Yusef, curious residents occasionally look around the corner to see which eatery has been added to the neighborhood. “People are happy we’re here,” notes Sohrab. “We renovated the building and replaced all equipment with new ones. For example, we have installed a real Italian pizza oven behind the counter. Here we bake our own pizzas with toppings of your choice.”

Famous chef

Yusef has worked as a cook at Los Muchachos in Zoetermeer. Thanks to his many years of experience, he knows exactly what people in Zoetermeer like. “We have put a mix of Mexican and Italian dishes on the menu. Quesadilla and burritos, pizza, loaded fries, salads and pizzas: we prepare it all fresh. Customers can choose between meat, fish or vegetarian.”

Discount for police, fire and healthcare employees

In addition to meals, Zoetermeer residents can also enjoy a cup of coffee or tea with a delicious piece of cake. “Soon we will have the opening of Food Shack,” says Yusef. “We want to introduce the residents to our menu with nice discounts. We’re having a party.” Good to know: Food Shack offers a discount on all dishes to police, fire and healthcare personnel. “These people are there for us, we want to be there for them,” concludes Sohrab.
