The freezing cold prevents Friday’s skiing.
Friday’s Kuopio Ski Championship has been canceled due to severe frost.
At 8:30 a.m. on Friday morning, the frost meter showed a frost reading of 24 degrees Celsius. The frost limit for the safe completion of the competition was set at 20 degrees, so the jury announced that it would cancel the competition.
Frosts of over 20 degrees are also predicted for tomorrow’s Saturday race day. On Sunday, instead, it should cool down enough that there should be no obstacle to competing. Of course, the situation can change on both of the remaining competition days.
In Puijo, it was planned to ski a pair relay on Friday. The qualifiers were supposed to take place in the morning. Among other things, they had signed up Iivo Niskanen and a new father Cross mat Hakola.
